At Chabad of Cole Valley we make Judaism’s rich heritage and values available through community events and educational programs. Adults We provide educational classes, as well as community building events, like our Hike with Community, Silent Auction at Cafe Reverie and 4th Friday Services and Dinner. We also offer Holiday parties for each holiday. We hope that you will join us as we build our community. Supporting the Jewish Family There is no doubt that the most important ingredient to ensure Jewish continuity is that the children be educated to be proud of their Judaism. To that goal we have designed an innovative after-school program which runs out of Grattan School called Shabbat Club. We also have a mini chefs division that runs out of Grattan. We have several programs which support children and the family as a whole: Oneg Shabbat, Havdallah Events and parties for all the Jewish holidays. We beleive that teaching children to "give back" to the community is important and have regular volunteer opportunities for kids and families. Helping Seniors Chabad of Cole Valley has been filling an important role: giving Jewish seniors living in non-Jewish facilities the chance to connect to Jewish traditions. Over 100 seniors participate in our regular events: Shabbat programs, enrichment workshops and Holiday parties at respective Senior care facilities. We also distribute holiday food packages and have community wide Shabbat dinners where seniors from different facilities meet at one location to celebrate their Judaism. Outreach Each year Chabad of Cole Valley hosts a booth at the Cole Valley Street Fair. It gives us a chance to connect with the community - and we hope that you will come by to say hi! Social Services Though we hope that nobody should be needing this service, we have committed ourselves to making sure that every Jewish inmate can access their Jewish roots and heritage. Rabbi Nosson currently visits the SF County Jail regularly to provide spiritual counseling and support for those that request it.
